Ride the Wave Together: Why Your Provider Belongs Up Front

By Lionel Larry

Right now, nobody’s moving with a plan. We’re all reacting—some of us daily, some of us hourly. And when everything’s reactive, panic creeps in. People start guessing. Overcorrecting. Trying to do too much with too little real information. And it’s contagious.

Here’s what I’m telling people: don’t drink from the fire hose.

I get it. There’s a lot of noise out there. And yeah, some of it’s worth paying attention to—but most of it doesn’t apply to your business. What works for a $10 billion company might wreck a $10 million one. So before you roll out another internal update or rework your forecast for the third time this week, pause. Ask yourself: do I actually need all this information?

And then ask your partner.

Seriously—this is the moment to get closer to your supply chain partner, not hold them at arm’s length. Don’t leave your provider in the blind while you make decisions. Pull them into the car with you. Let them sit in the passenger seat and see what you see.

That’s how you stay aligned. That’s how you avoid burnout. That’s how you keep from spinning your wheels chasing headlines that don’t affect your actual freight, your actual dock, your actual timeline.

No need to stir the pot. Just talk to the right people.

So yeah—ride the wave. But don’t ride it alone.
